Hi there. My name is Kara. I am a facepainter and I live on the North Shore in Auckland.  I’m also a mum of 2, larper and middle eastern dancer. I paint on canvas and scrapbook my photos when I get around to it. You’ll can probably hear about all these things on my blog though I’ll at least attempt to focus on facepainting.

I started facepainting after I wandered into the New Zealand Body Art Awards in 2007 to support a friend who had entered. I was blown away by the artwork I saw there. My kids were blown away by the face paintings they got done there. I bought some gear and started practicing on them. They started going to friend’s houses and pre-school with their faces done and I got asked to do kindy fairs and birthday parties from that.

Since then, I’ve done a lot of design, a lot of practicing and attended workshops with internationally known body artists like Yolanda Bartram (Body FX) and the Wolfe Brothers (Evil Twin FX).  I’m continually expanding my range of faces and ideas and still having as much fun as the first time I picked up a palette.
